AUCTION RULES
- All NIADA Auctions open at 12:00pm EDT time zone (New York).
- The 2024 “Dragons” auction starts on Thursday, August 22nd, and ends Sunday, August 25th starting @ 12:00pm (noon) EDT.
- Closing times are staggered in 10-minute increments to 2:50pm EDT -- NOTE THE ENDING TIMES!
- All sales are final. Shipping is included. Currency: USD only
- Any auction items left unclaimed after 48 hours will be sold to the next highest bidder.
- NIADA reserves the right to add or withdraw items without notice, to or from the auction.
- By participating in the NIADA Auctions, each bidder agrees to these auction rules.
- To participate in the NIADA Auctions, please register and create a bidding profile with your personal information.
- You will need a valid email address to receive an email every time you are outbid.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that all the information on your profile is VALID and CURRENT. You may view and edit your profile by logging onto the NIADA Auctions website.
- All bids start at $100.00.
- The opening bid on each item must be at least the minimum bid listed.
- Each subsequent bid must follow the minimum increment of $10.00 and can be higher than the minimum amount specified.
- There is no proxy bidding, the bid placed is the current bid.
- No bids will be removed or lowered once they have been posted.
- Registered Users can bid on as many items as they choose, can watch auctions, and get email updates and notifications if they are outbid.
- Bidding continues until the auction ends or is closed by the admin.
- “The Precious” has a starting bid of $100.00.
- Bidder A places a $100.00 opening bid.
- Bidder B places the $10.00 minimum bid increment.
- The current bid is raised to $110.00.
- Bidder C places a $150.00 bid, which becomes the new current bid.
- Bidder A places a $200.00 bid, outbidding Bidder C.
- Bidding continues in this fashion till the auction closes at the time specified.
- The highest bid at the end is the winner.
- The closing time of the auction will be listed on each auction item page.
- Once bidding closes, the items you have won become your responsibility to proceed with payment.
- The winning bidders will be contacted to arrange shipment to the purchaser. Note: Shipping service interruptions due to COVID-19 may impact shipments among various countries.
- Payment for all purchases is due immediately at the conclusion of the auction.
- After an auction is over, the winner will receive an email notification with the payment instructions.

The seeds of creativity were planted in my childhood under the patient tutelage of my mother, who imparted her love of sewing and handcrafts to me. Upon leaving school I completed a three-year Fashion Design Course and trained and worked as a costume designer for fashion and theatre, creating masquerade and fancy dress costumes. During the late 1980s, I started making reproductions of antique porcelain dolls. It didn’t take long before I felt constrained by the rigid style, and moved on to sculpting original dolls. Porcelain has always been my medium of choice, thanks to its perfectly smooth surface for sculpting and painting. While it’s unforgiving to work with and a little tricky to perfect, the reward is its translucence and longevity.
Working from photos and life models, I translate my observations of the human body into realistic clay figures. I start with a block of porcelain clay. When the clay sculpture is completed I use casting plaster to make multiple-piece slip-cast molds, which enables me to produce a small edition of each sculpt. Taking something from a thought and conjuring up an image of what I want to create involves costuming, shoe-making, wigging, making jewellery, and even the chair—everything bespoke, so it can truly be called an artist doll. With a good working knowledge of all facets of the doll industry, I produce limited-edition dolls, design accessories for the hobby-doll market; lecture and teach hands-on workshops and online classes.
